There are many popular species of birds to choose from if you are looking to adopt a bird as a pet. However, they are all unique, with their own requirements, training, and others can’t even survive without a mate. You will need to give companionship to your bird pet regularly, and they will reciprocate 100%. The following are a few birds popularly kept as pets.
Parakeets/Budgies
These species make wonderful pets for new pet bird owners and children. They are smart, playful, and require less space, care, and maintenance than most birds. Parakeets are beautifully coloured, hardy, and intelligent little birds that learn a few words and phrases. Their life expectancy is approximately 12 to 14 years.
Cockatiels
The cockatiels are medium-sized birds native to Australia with awesome advanced singing and whistling abilities. They can learn to talk and perfectly mimic the sound of a ringing telephone and a few other quirky sounds. These birds are available in various colours to have a life expectancy of 15 to 20 years.
Love Birds
They are the smallest in the parrot species of birds. They are fairly quiet, making them ideal and more likeable to leave within apartments and shared living areas. The brightly coloured birds have a life expectancy of about 20 years.
Finch
Finches measure around five inches. They don’t pay a lot of attention to humans, so they are the best pets to keep because they will be just fine even when left all alone for long hours. They have a life expectancy of at least 10 years.
